Bismuth orthovanadate - Preparation and photocatalytic properties of novel visible light active palladium oxide/bismuth vanadate composite photocatalyst

Abstract:

A novel visible light active palladium oxide (PdO)/bismuth vanadate (BiVO4) composite photocatalyst was prepared by impregnation method. The physical and optical properties of the composite photocatalyst were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and UV-Vis absorption spectroscopy. The photocatalytic activity of PdO/BiVO4 for the degradation of methyl orange was investigated under visible light (& lambda;400nm) irradiation. The results show that the PdO/BiVO4 photocatalyst is monoclinic phase structure, and the grain morphology is cruciferous or spherical. XPS results show that the doped palladium (Pd) in the composite photocatalyst exists in the form of PdO. Compared with the pure BiVO4 sample, the photocatalytic activity of the composite photocatalyst for visible light degradation of methyl orange was significantly enhanced. The reason for the improvement of the photocatalytic performance of the new composite photocatalyst may be due to the efficient separation of photogenerated carriers in the catalyst.

Bismuth orthovanadate - Preparation and photocatalytic properties of monoclinic bismuth vanadate hollow nanospheres

Abstract:

BiVO4 hollow nanospheres were successfully synthesized by citric acid complexation method combined with heat treatment using Bi(NO3)· 5H2O and NH4VO3 as raw materials without adding any template. The morphology, phase structure and optical absorption properties of the samples were characterized by TEM,XRD,TG-DTA and UV-Vis, the photocatalytic properties of the samples were investigated by using the decolorization degradation experiment of methylene blue dye solution as a model reaction. The results show that the prepared BiVO4 exists in the monoclinic scheelite phase and has a good hollow structure. The average particle size of the hollow spheres is 160 nm and the cavity diameter is 10~80 nm. The spectral data of UV-Vis show that the band gap of the prepared BiVO4 sample is about 2.26 eV, and the sample has strong light absorption in the ultraviolet and visible regions. Under visible light irradiation, The decolorization rate of methylene blue solution by BiVO4 hollow spheres was more than 150 and COD removal rate was 95% after 73.66% min. In addition, the effect of different molar ratio of citric acid to bismuth ion on the morphology of hollow spheres was investigated, and the formation mechanism of BiVO4 hollow nanospheres was discussed.

Bismuth orthovanadate - Preparation of high temperature-resistant bismuth vanadate yellow pigment

Abstract:

in order to improve the high temperature resistance of bismuth vanadate (BiVO4) yellow pigment, the SiO2 film was formed on the surface of BiVO4 by the hydrolysis reaction of TEOS, the yellow pigment of bismuth vanadate is calcined at 1 000 ℃, and the color is still bright. The optimum technological conditions for the preparation of high temperature resistant bismuth vanadate yellow pigment were determined by experiments: at room temperature, the TEOS concentration was 0.14 mol/L, the reaction time was 2 h and the aging time was about 20 h, the mass fraction of sodium dodecylbenzene sulfonate (DBS) was 0.4%, and SiO2 was coated twice. The product was characterized by infrared spectrometer, X-ray diffractometer and differential thermal analyzer, and it was concluded that the infrared spectrum of the composite particles showed that the surface had the characteristic absorption peak of SiO2 standard spectrum; X-ray diffraction confirmed that SiO2 was coated on the surface of BiVO4 in tetragonal phase. The differential thermal analysis results showed that the coated SiO2 played a role in preventing BiVO4 from sintering.
